What is Capital Area Food Bank?

The Capital Area Food Bank provides food to the food insecure populations in and around the DC area.

How do I volunteer?

There are many ways to volunteer at the food bank. Drivers can deliver food to neighbors throughout the community.

Sorters can come to one of the two the distribution centers (in DC or northern VA) to sort and pack donated food.

Volunteers can also help in local community markets that bring healthy foods into DC neighborhoods.

Gardeners can help in community vegetable gardens.

And Capital Area Food Bank also hosts community events where volunteers can assist.

All of these opportunities are listed here and the calendar to sign up is here.

Please note that all volunteers must be vaccinated and masked, and must sign a covid waiver
