What is D.C. Central Kitchen?

D.C. Central Kitchen was founded in 1989 to create food, jobs and opportunity. It picks up unused food, turns it into meals for shelters and nonprofits, and uses that process to train jobless adults in the culinary arts.

How do I volunteer?

Volunteers are needed for all aspects of food preparation and delivery. Meal prep involves cutting vegetables, preparing salads, packaging meals, and other kitchen related tasks. Sign-ups can be found here.
