What is Sinai Assisted Housing Foundation?

Sinai House was founded in 1922 by Temple Sinai members in Washington, DC. It serves up to eight families at a time, four in residence at Sinai House and four alumni living in the community. Sinai House has four fully-furnished apartments, and provides programs and professional services to help each family member with finance, education, and employment. After living in Sinai House apartments for two years, the families can choose to participate in a two-year post-residency program with rent subsidies and social services.

How do I volunteer?

There are several ways to volunteer at Sinai House. One is to become a mentor, and meet with a child once or twice a month for a fun activity. Another is to be a weekly academic tutor for children. Sinai House also needs playtime facilitators for board games, walks to the park or watching a movie together. The form for volunteering is here.

Sinai House also hosts an annual 5k in May, which families can run together to raise money for Sinai House programs.
