What is Valentines By Kids?

Founded in 2018 by a student, Valentines By Kids approaches elementary and middle schools in the DMV (as well as Boards of Education, PTA’s, churches, and youth groups) to ask children to craft Valentine’s Day cards for the less fortunate. Then volunteers deliver these cards to hospital and hospice patients, nursing home residents, and clients of Food & Friends, bringing smiles to many. In 2023, 16,000 children participated!

How do I volunteer?

Valentines By Kids offers several types of volunteering opportunities. Current or

retired school employees are a great fit to volunteer to contact a few school principals or art teachers to get them interested. People with website experience are also very helpful. And if are interested in helping to sort and package Valentine’s Day cards in February, you can click here for that as well.
