What is the Literacy Council of Montgomery County?


Founded in 1963, LCMC began as an organization to teach reading and writing English to adults. It has expanded its mission and now offers instruction English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL), GED exam preparation, workforce readiness, computer skills, and more.


How do I volunteer?


To start off, fill out a volunteer form. Licensed teachers do the lead teaching for LCMC, but possible volunteer roles include Teaching Assistant, a conversation group leader for Literacy council Chats, a GED Tutor, or leading a one-off workshop. All of these roles are further described here.
