What is Mary's Center?

Mary’s Center is a community health center serving over 65,000 people of all ages, incomes, and backgrounds in the Washington, DC metro area for over 30 years. With an integrated model of health care, education, and social services, Mary’s Center offers each participant individualized care on the path toward good health, stability, and economic independence.

How do I volunteer?

There are many ways to volunteer at Mary's Center. First, fill out a volunteer interest form.

Holiday Events: every year, Mary’s Center has two end-of-year holiday events to support families who might need a little more help around the holidays. The Thanksgiving Food Drive ensures that hundreds of families receive a warm Thanksgiving meal, and the Holiday Toy Drive allows us to distribute over 5,000 toys to kids who need them. You can find out more here.

Elder Nutrition: The Eat Well, Live Better! Program provides access to healthy supplements for DC residents who are 60+ years old with a chronic illness. You can provide direct service by calling participants to complete health and wellness intakes. Contact Lauren Shutler, Community Engagement Manager, to learn how to get involved.

Donation sorting: Mary’s Center accepts gently worn clothing, shoes, baby clothes, books, and winter coats/items to give to our participants. Volunteers are needed to help sort through and organize donations to ensure that participants have the best to choose from. Email Lauren Shutler for more information.

Supporting migrants: You can help support migrants arriving from the southern border by purchasing requested essentials from Mary’s Center migrant wish list.

Volunteers of all ages can also help with these virtual volunteer opportunities.
