What is Stepping Stones Shelter?

For over 30 years, Stepping Stones Shelter has provided food, emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and post-shelter support to families experiencing homelessness. It aims to move families with children from crisis to a stable home environment.

Specifically, Stepping Stones provides case management services to connect families to needed services in the community, and to help families develop income and housing solutions. It also provides employment counselors who work one-on-one to provide intense employment and career counseling. It provides tutoring for the children and GED tutoring, if needed, for the adults. It also provides dinners, for which it needs many volunteers.

How do I volunteer?

All volunteers must begin with a volunteer application. Volunteers are needed for the following: dinner donation, donation sorter, childcare volunteer, clerical worker, children's activity night volunteer, parent workshop volunteer, and children's tutor. Each of these opportunities is described in further detail here.

Stepping Stones also appreciates donation drives, which can include items from their urgent needs list. Children of all ages can participate on donation drives.

Volunteers are encouraged to reach out to Stepping Stones by email to learn more.
